If you’re looking for hotels in Singapore, Little India is a fantastic option because of its great atmosphere – colourful streets and exotic smells – and its beautiful temples and mosques. It also has great food options. Little India hotels are especially good for backpackers and budget travellers because they are generally less expensive than other areas.

Luxury

One Farrer Hotel

This is an unusual property with three different hotels under one roof in a complex integrated with a hospital and medical centre! However, the three hotels – Mint Hotel, Loft Apartments and Skyline Hotel and Villas – are more like different room categories.

The 176 Mint rooms are on floors 11 to 15, Loft apartments on 16 and Skyline on 18 to 20. The latter is the hotel’s “club” category with the lounge on the 18th floor, offering five meals a day, along with a swimming pool and gym (on the 19th floor) only for Skyline guests. There is a pool on level 6 for other guests complete with submerged sun lounges as well as a gym.

It is considered one of the best hotels in Little India, Singapore.

Dining options include Escape, Socieaty (which includes a number of different brands), Sunset Bar and Nest at One Farrer (a private dining experience guests can book).

The hotel is connected to Farrer Park MRT (take Exit A) and is a 5-minute walk from City Mall.

Price: from $S240 for a Mint room
Address: 1 Farrer Park Station Rd

Citadines Rochor

While the range of cheap and tasty hawker food available in Singapore doesn’t provide much incentive to cook, I like staying in serviced apartments so I can cook a quick breakfast before a day of wandering and reheat food later if I’m too exhausted to go out.

This property is part of Tekka Place, which is at the beginning of Little India and contains a mix of retail and dining options over four floors. It features an outdoor swimming pool, residents’ lounge and kitchen, and a self-service laundry.

There are a range of rooms available from 20sqm studios (with microwaves and mini-fridges; the executive studio has a cooktop) to 25sqm and 38sqm one-bedroom (with fully equipped kitchens) and dual-key apartments. Many have great city views from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Booking rates at the moment even include a free walking tour!

The apartments are a 4-minute walk from Rochor MRT and3 minutes from Little India MRT.

Price: From $S150
Address: 2 Serangoon Rd
